You’re intolerable

To ascertain if a person is intolerant, you must first understand that human rights come before beliefs. If my intolerance towards your beliefs is in defense of a human right, then the only intolerance that matters in this scenario is yours.

Violence never solved anything

Recent world events make me think about if there will ever be a time when human beings realize that war and violence never solve problems. Oh, I know what you are thinking, there goes Mr. Liberal and his utopian thinking. But even if you think that, it still doesn’t mean I’m wrong. There has never been a time when the “opposition” has changed their minds because of the use of force. So unless you are prepared to kill everyone you consider an opponent, including their children, which of course is an untenable position to hold, then war and violence never solves any problems. It’s amazing in 2014 how we still think this is a workable solution to anything.

On a recent episode of Last Week Tonight on HBO, host John Oliver dedicated a 15 minute segment to American apathy towards our aging nuclear weapons. Oliver said we spend more time worrying about whether we “accidentally hit Reply All on an office email” than we do worrying about “nuclear annihilation.”

Mexico Border, And The Tidy Republican Brain

For weeks, months, years, Republicans have been running around with their hair on fire, screaming that we need to do something about the border between Mexico and the United States. They say the president needs to lead, and he needs to lead now.

American Immigration Politics: The Haters vs. The Compassionate

In 2014 America, the “haters” rule our media coverage. We see them protesting undocumented children, screaming vitriolic language, and holding offensive signs. Why do they have such hate for these children? And make no mistake, they do indeed hate them, because people don’t act the way these so-called “adults” are acting without having a deep-seated resentment. Obviously they feel threatened, and they are acting out of fear, resulting in their open display of hostility towards people seeking a better life.

Tax Cuts For Job Creation? Do You Know How Compound Interest Works?

Never mind that it is consumers who create the demand for products and services that in turn generates the need for additional jobs to meet that demand. Yes, people need to start the companies that build the products, but let’s get one thing straight here, nobody would start a company if they thought there was no demand for a product. And nobody would start a company if they thought the general public had no purchasing power to buy their product. So jobs will always be a function of demand, not supply.
