Economic Uncertainty? You Can Thank Mitt Romney and Republicans

Robert Reich says Mitt Romney offers a question-mark when it comes to his plans for the economy. We’ve heard Romney and Republicans say that businesses are uncertain because of Obama’s big government agenda, but Reich posits that it is Romney who is offering uncertainty. Whether it’s his promise to repeal Obamacare (with no details on what he would replace it with) or his $5 trillion tax cut (with no details on which loopholes he will eliminate), Romney comes up short on specifics.

Federal Deficit: Did Someone Forget How Budgets Work? — It’s Spending AND Revenue

I know there is a line of thinking out there that posits once a president takes office, everything that happens within the federal government is under his control. This line of thinking was no less false when Bush was president then it is now when Obama is president. It’s not about blame, it’s about facts, and when it comes to the federal budget, and more specifically the year-after-year trillion-dollar plus deficits, it seems people need a few lessons.

Demonizing Wealth? Have You Paid Attention To Who Is Prospering Lately?

I’ve written about this topic before in response to an article comment, and I’m going to write about it again in response to another comment. — There are a number of average Americans willing to step up to the plate and defend the wealthy. They believe there is a class war against the rich. They believe President Obama is against wealth. They believe Democrats and liberals are against success. But where does this belief come from? I have serious doubts that so many average Americans simultaneously came to this conclusion. No, they believe wealth is being demonized because wealthy powerful people are saying just that, and they choose to believe it. And I don’t know why.

Here in Europe we simply do not understand how the race for the White House between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney is so close. Our media portrays Barack Obama as a solid statesman who faces opponents which are nothing more than out of touch, anti-abortionist, religious extremist fools, who are lead by a man who has spent his career hoarding gold bullion in case the system of paper money collapses.

The Real Obama Shows Up, Wins Second Presidential Debate

After a subpar first debate performance, President Obama was present and lively in debate number two on Tuesday night. As always, I believe Obama won on substance because Romney’s prescription for what ails this country is all wrong. But it’s up to President Obama to clearly explain why that is, and why he is the better choice and deserves a second term. The president did that last night.

The 2012 Left Call “Front Yard Sign” Poll – South Carolina Style

Romney - Ryan - yard signSo who is winning the 2012 Left Call “Front Yard Sign” Poll (South Carolina style)? Before revealing the results, I’ll preface by saying that this poll closely resembles Obama’s performance in the first presidential debate. In other words, it ain’t pretty. After driving around various Myrtle Beach, South Carolina neighborhoods today the unofficial 2012 Left Call “Front Yard Sign” Poll goes to Romney-Ryan in a landslide. In fact, its a clean sweep. Not one Obama-Biden sign in a 2 hour survey of front yards. In fact, the only Obama signs that could be found are affixed to my 2011 Honda Fit (the unofficial Obama-mobile) as I drive through neighborhoods, offering friendly waves to residents who are out walking their dogs. And in many cases there were 3 or 4 houses in a row with Romney-Ryan signs. Of course these results should not come as a surprise as South Carolina is the state that still flies the confederate flag on it’s statehouse.
