Gallup: Post-Debate Poll: Obama and Romney Tied At 47 Percent

In Gallup’s pre-debate poll conducted September 30th to October 2nd, President Obama led Mitt Romney 50% to 45%. In Gallup’s post-debate poll conducted October 4th to October 6th, the race is now even at 47 percent. Gallup also asked who won the debate, and 72% said Romney, 20% said Obama. I’m not sure what debate that 20% were watching. Although to be fair, a number of people who said Obama won the debate may have ranked substance over style, and in that case, Obama did win the debate. But since style is unfortunately what matters in these debates, there is really no disputing that Romney won.

Presidential Debate: Obama Played The Role Of Defense Attorney

First 2012 Presidential Debate - Mitt Romney and Barack Obama- JIM BOURG/REUTERSTo play off Lawrence O’Donnell’s analogy during MSNBC”s post-debate coverage, President Obama looked like the defense attorney during the first presidential debate. Mitt Romney looked like the aggressive prosecutor, and he was quite successful in that role tonight. I’m not talking about whether you agree on any issues of substance, I’m simply talking about debate style and body language. Mitt Romney aggressively directed his attention right at President Obama on multiple occasions. President Obama on the other hand seemed to focus most of his attention toward moderate Jim Lehrer or the camera.

Judge Orders A Halt To Pennsylvania Voter ID Enforcement Before Election

Commonwealth Court Judge Robert Simpson ruled Tuesday that Pennsylvania cannot enforce it’s voter ID law before the election. The ruling can be appealed to the state Supreme Court but that appears to be unlikely since it was the highest court in PA that sent the law back to the lower court with instructions to do what it has now done. This is a big win for voting rights in Pennsylvania and the country. However, the law still exists and could be enforced at a later date. So there is still work to be done.
