The Revolution Will Not Be Binge Watched
It won’t come fast. It won’t be easy. It might just make you want to Netflix and chill. But, make no mistake, we need a political revolution to fix Washington D.C.

During last night’s Republican debate on CNN, Marco Rubio said, “They [FBI] are not asking for Apple to create a backdoor to encryption.” On a very specific parsing of that statement, Rubio might be correct, but what the FBI is asking Apple to do is create code that would be equal to a backdoor, because it would allow the FBI (and anyone else who gets their hands on this code) the ability to try unlimited passcodes using high-speed computers. virtually guaranteeing access to the phone’s data. So sure, on a technicality Rubio might be correct, but make no mistake, Apple is being asked to create code that would make it possible to render the iPhone’s encryption meaningless.

My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over.

Yesterday I said Bernie Sanders has already won. The victory is educating millions of young Americans about social liberal values. Sanders calls himself a democratic-socialist, but he’s a true liberal, a true FDR Democrat.

Even if he doesn’t get the Democratic nomination, Bernie Sanders has already won. Oh sure, his ideas have been dismissed by the mainstream media as too radical, or too idealistic. The pushback against the Sanders campaign is a feature, not a bug, of the status quo. People who are perfectly happy about the way things are going in America are not interested in entertaining proposals like Medicare for all, or free public college. Neither of these ideas are extreme when put into the context of the liberal democratic experiment we call America. But, several decades of relentless establishment droning has caused us to forget the liberal foundation of this great country.

Donald Trump has no filter, and that is exactly what his supporters like about him. It almost doesn’t matter if they think he will be a good president, they just can’t get enough of The Donald saying what’s on his mind. They love that he’s not “politically correct,” and that he’s the biggest a-hole in the race for the White House. Instagram account @darnoldtrump gives us Trump in his most purest form.

There’s a political lesson here, and it’s a good reason to stop trying to compare Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders.

Tonight on Facebook, Robert Reich posted an email he received from someone who is undecided between Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders. Yes, you read that correctly. But, we know these people exist. The question is, how?

During tonight’s Democratic town hall on CNN, Bernie Sanders connected Republican obstructionism during Obama’s seven years in office to the birther movement led by Donald Trump. “What you are seeing today in this Supreme Court situation, is nothing more than the continuous and unprecedented obstructionism that President Obama has gone through,” said Sanders. “And this is on top of this birther issue — which we heard from Donald Trump and others — a racist effort to try to delegitimize the President of the United States.”

Do you sometimes see a parallel between Donald Trump’s rise and Adolf Hitler’s rise? Shall I now pause and cringe, anticipating the boos & rotten tomatoes flying through the air? Yes, I know its become cliché to compare anyone contemporary to Hitler. But seriously, Donald Trump is spewing some extreme right-wing rhetoric during a time of economic uncertainty. His campaign appeals to “downtrodden” white people on issues they feel know are true without any supporting evidence, relying on stoked fears of the “other” who is infiltrating and ruining our once great nation.
