I thank and support Stephen Hill. I also thank and support – all United States military members who risk their lives for our country – without conditions. Unfortunately for some conservatives, support for our troops comes with conditions. In the most recent Republican debate on September 22, 2011, Stephen Hill – a soldier serving in Iraq – asked if the progress for gays in the military would be circumvented by a Republican administration.

Conservatives are for big government. Yes, you read that correctly. There is, however, a caveat. Conservatives are about keeping government out of their lives while simultaneously advocating more government intrusion into the lives of others. Conservatives are much more concerned with how government affects them than they are about how government affects you.

It is hard to believe it was December, 19th 2010 when I wrote my post titled Don’t Ask Don’t Tell is Dead, Done, Gone. It would be another 9 months before that statement was officially true. While Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was repealed last year it wasn’t until 12:01 AM this morning that the repeal official went into effect. This ends the lies, the fear, and the witch hunts that existed under the old law. Now gays and lesbians no longer need to hide who they are. They can serve openly without fear of discharge from the military.

Today it was announced that Cenk Uygur and The Young Turks will be heading to Current TV with a new 7pm show. Earlier this year Cenk Uygur had a 6pm show on MSNBC before leaving amidst turmoil, just as Keith Olbermann did in January.

Two months ago Netflix announced a new pricing strategy that was met with near universal derision. The result was a 60% price hike for customers who were using the most popular DVD and streaming package. Their reasoning for this change was vague at best and that’s because it was a cold and calculated business decision. But was this decision made in a vacuum, ignoring the customers that made Netflix a success?
