RNC – Mitt Romney’s Speech and the Clint Eastwood Disaster

As a liberal I cannot find much to agree with in Mitt Romney’s speech tonight. However, I can be objective from time to time, and from a delivery and effectiveness standpoint, I think Romney’s speech was a huge success for the Romney campaign. Maybe that’s just the low expectations talking, but if there truly are people in this country who are still undecided, I think it’s possible Romney’s RNC speech could give him a post-convention bump in the polls. Whether that bump lasts until election day, only time will tell.

For Republicans, Duality is a State Of Mind, a Means To An End

Republicans exist in their own special place and time. A place that is loose with facts, stuffed with contradictory statements and topped off with hyperbolic rhetoric. Whatever will get the job done. Their soon-to-be nominee for president, Mitt Romney is the poster child of Republican duality. For Republicans this is simply a state of mind. The goal is to win the White House and take full control of U.S. government. Convictions are less important than ultimate power, and so Republicans willingly trample on their own statements and previous policy positions. It’s a means to an end.

Birtherism: Hey Romney Supporters, Your Bias Is Showing

On Friday, while at a campaign stop in Michigan, Mitt Romney joked, “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate.” Maybe Romney has gone birther, or maybe he was pandering to the birther element within the Republican Party, or maybe he just made a bad joke. It’s irrelevant to the point I would like to make that Romney supporters are showing their bias when they defend his “joke.”

VIDEO: Romney: ‘No One’s Ever Asked To See My Birth Certificate’

What is Mitt Romney looking to accomplish with his birth certificate joke? Today Mitt Romney said, “No one’s ever asked to see my birth certificate.” He said this during a campaign stop in Michigan. Why does Romney feel the need to play to the racist and ‘head up the ass’ fringe of the Republican base when he should be trying to win over the few remaining undecided voters? Surely these undecided voters are in the moderate camp and not likely to subscribe to the absurd birther movement.
