This week Republican Senator Mike Johanns (NE) said, “I find it so incredibly ironic…” Wait! Wait! I gotta stop you there Senator. “Ironic”? I’m not sure what’s the word you wanted to use. But OK, go on… “That its [background check legislation] proponents think these weapons are a problem in the hands of law-abiding citizens,” said Johanns. “But apparently see no problem with the same weapons being glorified in Hollywood movies and video games.”

In what can be described as the only reason needed to be against Obama’s drone strikes, former vice president, and leader of the dark side, Dick Cheney, gives his endorsement of the drone program. It’s noteworthy because Cheney has voiced regular displeasure with Obama’s handling of national security. On CBS This Morning, Cheney said the drone program is “a good policy.” Cheney does not believe any extra oversight is needed, saying Obama “is getting paid to make difficult, difficult decisions.”

Americans have voiced their decision; they have accepted perpetual war. The Obama administration no longer calls our indefinite conflict a “war on terror,” but that has not changed our policy towards terrorism. In fact, it has only enhanced it, and not for the better.
