Previous presidents, whether you agreed with them or not, all operated within the normal range of American political discourse. Maybe some tested that range, but they still had the ability to be civil and comforting when the country needed it. You know what needs to be “great again”? The American President. ... Five years ago when Donald Trump road that escalator and announced his candidacy, everyone including most people who are now Trump-for-lifers, believed it was a stunt, and he was clearly unqualifie...
After a subpar first debate performance, President Obama was present and lively in debate number two on Tuesday night. As always, I believe Obama won on substance because Romney’s prescription for what ails this country is all wrong. But it’s up to President Obama to clearly explain why that is, and why he is the better choice and deserves a second term. The president did that last night.
So who is winning the 2012 Left Call “Front Yard Sign” Poll (South Carolina style)? Before revealing the results, I’ll preface by saying that this poll closely resembles Obama’s performance in the first presidential debate. In other words, it ain’t pretty. After driving around various Myrtle Beach, South Carolina neighborhoods today the unofficial 2012 Left Call “Front Yard Sign” Poll goes to Romney-Ryan in a landslide. In fact, its a clean sweep. Not one Obama-Biden sign in a 2 hour survey of front yards. In fact, the only Obama signs that could be found are affixed to my 2011 Honda Fit (the unofficial Obama-mobile) as I drive through neighborhoods, offering friendly waves to residents who are out walking their dogs. And in many cases there were 3 or 4 houses in a row with Romney-Ryan signs. Of course these results should not come as a surprise as South Carolina is the state that still flies the confederate flag on it’s statehouse.
Much of this year’s presidential election campaign has focused on the economy. While that’s certainly no great surprise, one topic that must be prioritized is the environment. Mitt Romney’s vow to de-regulate the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in order to appease his fossil fuel burning donors clearly demonstrates he favors making money over protecting the environment. His blatant disregard for the environment is there for everyone to see. Why the Obama campaign hasn’t made more of this issue remains something of a mystery.
On Hardball, hours before the vice presidential debate, a woman tells Chris Matthews that President Obama is a communist. I can’t help but think this woman might show more clarity of thought if instead of right-wing propaganda, she was under the influence of drugs:
I have two thoughts about Vice President Joe Biden’s debate performance, and then a closing thought on who I think won the first and only vice presidential debate.
The Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) requires your health care insurance company to spend most of your premium on health care, not administrative costs and profits.
