Poll: When It Comes To Drones, Most Americans Say ‘Fight Them Over There’
A new Gallup poll shows a strong majority of Americans (65%) support drone “airstrikes in other countries against suspected terrorists.” President George W. Bush was wrong about a lot of things, but he tapped into a sentiment that many Americans feel (right or wrong), that they would rather take out perceived enemies on foreign soil. Bush famously said we would fight the terrorist “over there” so we don’t have to fight them “over here.” And who wouldn’t want their enemies vanquished in some far away land, out of sight, out of mind? As for collateral damage — well, we are at war, right? A one-state war against a tactic, not a nation or an army, but that’s just semantics, right?

The Legal Argument For Marriage Equality
Marriage, as recognized by the state, requires a license and is a legal contract between two people. It should be of no consequence if this legal contract is between a man and a woman or two men, or two women. Because it is administered by the state, that state must abide by the U.S. constitution. Or in other words, a marriage license and the legal contract that goes along with it must not discriminate.

Iraq War: 42 Percent Of Americans Like Being Lied To
Ten years have passed since the start of the Iraq war. In that time, thousands of U.S. service members died, and potentially hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens lost their lives. In this decade of war, tens of thousands of Iraq war veterans have suffered physical and mental disabilities, and many will continue to deal with these issues for the rest of their lives. A war of choice, based on a lie, has now cost us over $2 trillion. And the cost is only going to continue to rise with the medical needs of Iraq war veterans for many more decades to come.

A Liberal Case For No Compromise In Washington
Numerous articles on this blog have critiqued Republicans’ unwillingness to compromise. I’ve mentioned that House Speaker John Boehner doesn’t even like the word compromise. So you would think that I believe compromise is a good thing in Washington. Well, if we were dealing with two political parties that gravitated towards the center of the political spectrum, one being center-left, the other being center-right, then sure, compromise is a good thing. That’s not the make-up of Washington D.C. at the moment.

Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman Says He Now Supports Same-Sex Marriage
Ohio Republican Senator Rob Portman has reversed his longstanding position against same-sex marriage. Portman said his stance evolved two years ago when his own son came out as gay to he and his wife. “It allowed me to think of this issue from a new perspective,” said Portman ” “[O]f a Dad who loves his son a lot and wants him to have the same opportunities that his brother and sister would have — to have a relationship like Jane and I have had for over 26 years.”

Costco CEO Craig Jelinek Says Raise The Minimum Wage
It is well-known that Costco CEO Craig Jelinek takes a different approach when it comes to employee compensation and retention. He’s one CEO who values employee commitment, and there’s no better way to retain dedicated employees than to pay them what they are worth. Today Jelinek threw his support behind the Fair Minimum Wage Act of 2013, which would raise the federal minimum wage to $10.10 per hour.
