Iowa Caucus Goes To Mitt Romney
Ron Paul locked up 3rd place early in the night. Rick Perry bowed out of the presidential campaign a few hours later.
The big news didn’t happen until just past 2:30am Eastern Wednesday morning when Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn announced that with 1770 precincts reporting Mitt Romney wins the Iowa Caucus with 30,015 votes. Rick Santorum comes in second with 30,007 votes. There are 25 delegates at stake but none are awarded the night of the caucus.
Romney is the favorite to win the New Hampshire Primary. If that happens does he lock up the nomination early? Can Santorum’s surge continue beyond Iowa? Stay tuned.
