Prison-Industrial Complex Watch: End Mandatory Minimum Sentences For Non-Violent Drug Offenses

It’s time for Americans to pay attention to what we are doing to so many non-violent drug offenders. We put them in jail, take away their right to vote when they get out, in many cases for minor offenses, that probably shouldn’t be illegal in the first place. Americans need to see the forest for the trees when it comes to U.S. drug laws. Why is it so hard to change failed policy?

Reports Of Gun-Control’s Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

Over on The Atlantic, Molly Ball has announced “The Death of Gun Control.” She says that any serious efforts on gun control ended when the Senate voted down enhanced background checks back in April. And if that wasn’t the death of gun control, the recall of two pro-gun-control Democrats in Colorado on Tuesday made it official.

It Takes 270: Do Conservatives Understand The Republican Electoral Math Challenge?

I know conservatives want to stick to their convictions and show America what they are made of, but do they understand the odds they face in 2016? To say it bluntly, Republicans are electorally challenged. They have a serious math problem on their hands. In 2016, Democrats start out with easily eight or nine-tenths of the electoral college votes required (270) to win the presidential election. This is before a single American casts a ballot. Why? I’ll let a conservative explain it. A conservative who does understand this incredible hurdle that Republicans face in 2016 and beyond.

Conservative Bubble: Republican Congressman: We Probably Could Get The Votes To Impeach Obama

Speaking in Luling, Texas on Saturday, Republican Representative Blake Farenthold said Republicans could probably get the votes to impeach Obama. He apparently ignored the small detail that President Obama is in his second term, and that’s because more Americans voted for him over Romney. That doesn’t phase these Republicans. They live in their own little world, and world we affectionately call the conservative bubble. They talk like they speak for all Americans. — Well of course Obama is a joke, and we need to do something about it. And so yeah, we could impeach him if we decided to vote on it.
