For Republicans, Duality is a State Of Mind, a Means To An End

Republicans exist in their own special place and time. A place that is loose with facts, stuffed with contradictory statements and topped off with hyperbolic rhetoric. Whatever will get the job done. Their soon-to-be nominee for president, Mitt Romney is the poster child of Republican duality. For Republicans this is simply a state of mind. The goal is to win the White House and take full control of U.S. government. Convictions are less important than ultimate power, and so Republicans willingly trample on their own statements and previous policy positions. It’s a means to an end.

We Can’t Have Medicare-for-All Because Conservatives Need a Bogeyman

Health care costs keep rising rapidly, and even when the Affordable Care Act fully kicks in (2014), the expectation is that cost increases, while tempered, will still be unsustainable. There are many ideas, solutions and hybrid solutions to tackle rising health care costs, but at its most fundamental level there are two approaches, and only one makes sense in the long run.

Affordable Care Act: Women’s preventive health services begin August 1, 2012

Starting tomorrow a long list of preventive health benefits for women kicks in as part of the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) provided a rebuke of Republican minority leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) call for a vote to repeal Obamacare. In her response she listed the women’s preventative benefits that will go into effect on August 1, 2012:

Video: Republicans Waste $50 Million In Failed Attempts To Repeal Health Care Reform

According to CBS News, the House of Representatives has wasted $50 million in failed attempts to repeal the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare). To be clear, it’s Republicans who are responsible for this waste. It costs $24 million a week to run the House. A total of 2 weeks of time has been spent on 33 separate votes to repeal Obamacare over the last 18 months. So Republicans have wasted just short of $50 million with their political stunts.

House Republicans Vote (Again) To Repeal Obamacare

I guess when you vote people into office who say “government is not the solution, it’s the problem,” then you get stupid, symbolic political votes like the vote today by Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Speaker John Boehner (R). Of course I didn’t vote for any such anti-government candidate. I like my representatives to actually represent the people, not piss on them.
