Ben Affleck Unwittingly Confirms Bill Maher’s Criticism Of Liberals

On the September 26th installment of Real Time on HBO, host Bill Maher used his “New Rules” segment to call out liberals who need a lesson on what liberals are supposed to stand for. “President Obama keeps insisting that ISIS is not Islamic,” said Maher. “If vast numbers of Muslims around the world believe — and they do — that humans deserve to die for merely holding a different idea, or drawing a cartoon, or writing a book, or eloping with the wrong person, not only does the Muslim world have something in common with ISIS, it has too much in common with ISIS.”

Can’t We All Just Get Along?

How many times have we heard those of power and privilege tell the people they’re walking all over to stop complaining because they don’t like hearing such hostility? It’s like whites in the 1960s reading about the latest race riot in the newspaper, sighing, and asking their black maid, “Why we can’t just all get along?” When the maid tries to calmly explain a few points that the protesters are making, then the whites make her and her comrades out to be rabble-rousers who can’t just be happy living in peace with their neighbors. Then the whites reply with something like, “Why can’t you just go back to being like you were 20 years ago in the 1940s when I was a kid? Growing up I never heard blacks complaining all the time like this. Why are you suddenly trying to make things so difficult for everyone?”

Photo Essay: Reason Rally 2012 – Photos Of A Great Day

The “Reason Rally” was promoted as the largest single gathering of secular people in the world – ever. As the day got closer it became clear (thanks to the always improving science of meteorology) that the weather would vary from raining hard to barely raining, with the ever-present threat of lightning all day. (Of course, the constant threat of lightning bolts is pretty much assumed at a gathering like this, right?!) The good news is, in spite of comedian Eddie Izzard’s taunting the sky gods to deliver some indication of their presence, no lightning (or even a distant rumble of thunder) ever came. And in spite of the rainy day that everyone knew was coming, an estimated 25,000 people still came. Just imagine how many more would’ve been there if it had been a continuation of the beautiful week of sun and upper-70’s that had preceeded it!
