President Obama’s Leadership
When Republicans say Obama needs to lead, they mean he needs to come around to their position.
Make no mistake, when Republicans like Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell or House Speaker John Boehner say that President Obama needs to show leadership, what they are actually saying is that Obama needs to agree with them. It is entirely possible for President Obama to “show leadership” that McConnell and Boehner disagree with. I just want to clear that up, because you are sure to hear Republicans say this line many times over the next four years.
