Fact of the Day: Presidents Who Won 50 Percent Of Vote Twice
This is a bonus Fact of the Day and it comes from a conservative commentator.
Four presidents in the last century have won more than fifty percent of the vote twice: Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Reagan, and Obama. – Bill Kristol
It should be noted that Franklin D. Roosevelt, a Democrat, won with more than fifty percent of the vote four times! This was of course before the 22nd Amendment which set a two-term limit for the office of president.
1932 – Roosevelt (D) – 57.41%
1936 – Roosevelt (D) – 60.80%
1940 – Roosevelt (D) – 54.74%
1944 – Roosevelt (D) – 53.39%
1952 – Eisenhower (R) – 55.18%
1956 – Eisenhower (R) – 57.37%
1980 – Reagan (R) – 50.75%
1984 – Reagan (R) – 58.77%
2008 – Obama (D) – 52.87%
2012 – Obama (D) – 50.6% * votes still being counted as of publishing
