Pat Robertson offers “atheists hate God” as cause of Sikh temple mass shooting

Does Pat Robertson have a “wheel of causation” that he spins every time there’s a tragedy? This time the wheel landed on “atheists,” which probably happens quite often and with divine intervention no less.

Monday on his show, The 700 Club, Robertson talked about the Sikh temple shooting and reasoned, “Is it satanic? Is it some spiritual thing, people who are atheists, they hate God, they hate the expression of God? And they are angry with the world, angry with themselves, angry with society and they take it out on innocent people who are worshiping God.” Slow down there Patty. You do understand that atheist means, “one who lacks belief in a supernatural or supreme being,” right? It’s kind of hard to hate something if you don’t believe it exists. / photo by Daniel Oines

I love how he is pegging this on atheists even though there is zero evidence that the shooter was an atheist. Oh wait, he’s a religious zealot, he doesn’t need evidence to believe something – or to say it apparently.
