VIDEO: London Mayor Boris Johnson takes a jab at Mitt Romney
No, there was no physical altercation. Not yet anyway. London Mayor Boris Johnson (Conservative Party) took to the stage in Hyde Park to exclaim that London is ready for the 2012 Olympics. Oh, and he throws a few jabs at “a guy called Mitt Romney” as well. In case you didn’t hear, Mittens decided it was a good idea to critique London’s Olympic readiness on his trip abroad.
It appears those crazy Brits didn’t take too kindly to Romney’s criticism. I hope they don’t read the following passage from Romney’s book “No Apology” before he has a chance to skip town:
England is just a small island. It’s roads and houses are small. With few exceptions, it doesn’t make things that the rest of the world wants to buy. And if it hadn’t been separated from the continent by water, it almost certainly would have been lost to Hitler’s ambitions. – from “No Apology” by Mitt Romney
But that’s ok, Mitt’s surrogates are doing damage control:
Two of Mitt Romney’s top surrogates told reporters Thursday the Romney campaign’s not worried about the torrent of negative press surrounding Romney’s visit to London. Americans don’t care about foreign press, they said.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell — both rumored to be potential vice presidential choices for Romney — defended Romney from the embarrassing headlines in London on a press call set up by the Romney campaign. – TPM
OH SHIT! Run Mittens, Run!
