Mike Huckabee announces ‘Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day’ on August 1, 2012
Former Arkansas governor and current Fox News host Mike Huckabee has announced via Facebook a Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day on Wednesday, August 1, 2012. Because we all need some “traditional values” activism now and then, you know, so we can wear our intolerance with pride. In case you have no idea what this is about, Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy recently reaffirmed his company’s bigotry.
In order to show your gay bashing spirit, Huckabee would like for you to, “take a stand for the Godly values we espouse by simply showing up and eating at Chick Fil-A on Wednesday, August 1.” Of course, if you believe in equality for all, then I suggest you show up and eat at Chick-fil-A, well, never.
Apparently Mikey is tired of his fellow “traditional values” Christians being labeled as “fundamentalists” or “hate-mongers.” In his finger lickin’ good (sorry, wrong franchise) call-to-action he says, “Too often, those on the left make corporate statements to show support for same-sex marriage, abortion, or profanity, but if Christians affirm traditional values, we’re considered homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.”
If “traditional values” means singling out certain groups as second-class citizens, or believing some groups are more free than others, or discriminating against others because of sexual orientation, then yes, you are “homophobic, fundamentalists, hate-mongers, and intolerant.” You don’t get to hide behind religion on this one.
Was I too subtle?
