GOP Voters In Mississippi And Alabama Say Obama Is A Muslim

Ignorance - photo by Filippo Minelli

As if we needed any more evidence that the Obama-hating crowd is ignorant, delusional, or both, a new poll by Public Policy Polling reveals that a majority of Republican voters in Mississippi and Alabama believe President Obama is a Muslim.

The Daily Beast – Mississippi Voters: Obama’s a Muslim

Forty-five percent of Republican voters in Alabama think Obama is a Muslim…Only 14 percent believe he is Christian. In Mississippi…Fifty-two percent of Republicans there think Obama is Muslim…only 12 [percent] believe he is Christian.

Of course Obama is not a Muslim, but as I’ve stated many times in the past, it doesn’t matter because the Constitution states “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office.”

So that should be the end of the story, right? Well, not so quick. There are far too many people willing to ignore entire sections of the Constitution because of their belief system and their bigotry. That means the rest of us, the clear-minded, must stay vigilant to defend everyone’s constitutional rights.

It’s ironic how much squawking you hear from the right about a liberal bias in the mainstream media, when you have such high percentages of people believing something that the mainstream media has never promoted.  Clearly they are being brainwashed, but it’s not by the liberal or mainstream media….

And you shouldn’t need to refer to the constitution to know that whether he’s a Muslim, Christian, Jew, or Hindu, what’s important is his actions as President.  If he’s a Muslim, does it matter whether he’s fundamentalist or moderate?  What if he’s a Muslim who implements a ton of pro-religion (and hence pro-Christian) policies?  Are they still unhappy then?  Clearly the unspoken implication here is he’s a Muslim so he should NOT be President because no Muslim should be President, because Muslims are to be feared/scorned.  Should a Mormon be President?  How about a Baptist?  A Catholic?  A Jew?  An Atheist?  Rather than deciding which religious affiliations are acceptable, let’s just get back to what this country is supposed to be about: religious liberty, and judging people based on the quality of their actions, rather than what dogma they’re affiliated with (if any).

The picture above sums it up.

Truly horrifying how many ignoramuses dwell among us — and have the right to vote!

    • Indeed, but there shouldn’t be any tests for voting. So that’s why we need to make sure Democrats and liberals show up to vote in November, even if they have plenty of complaints about Obama. Just look at the alternatives.
