This Is Your Brain On Religion: Obnoxious Bigoted Christians, And Herman Cain Says The Devil Did It
What happens when a waiter, who happens to be gay, serves a group of repugnant Christians?
Christians Refuse To Tip Server: ‘Queers Do Not Share In The Wealth of God’ — A group of customers left a note for their 20-year-old server in Overland Park, Kan., explaining why they did not tip him after they ate at Carrabba’s Italian Grill, despite his “excellent” service.
“Thank you for your service, it was excellent,” the note said. “That being said, we cannot in good conscience tip you, for your homosexual lifestyle is an affront to GOD [sic]. Queers do not share in the wealth of GOD, and you will not share in ours.”
“We hope you will see the tip your queer choices made you lose out on, and plan accordingly,” it said. “It is never too late for GOD’s love, but none shall be spared for queers. May GOD have mercy on you.”
This is your brain on religion. No, I’m not saying all Christians or all religious people behave like this, but what I am saying is that there are many (yes many) people who use religion as a crutch. For these people, religion is cover for things that otherwise would be considered vile, rude, and uncivilized. Religion is what props these people up. They are “good God-fearing Christians” or so they say, but remove the pious indignation, and what you are left with is an angry, small-minded, chauvinistic shell of a person.
“Hallowed are the Ori”
But there’s something else that strikes me after reading this despicable letter, and it’s in the last two sentences. After condemning this person for being who he is, these disgusting Christians have the audacity to say it’s not too late to be redeemed. Read the last two sentences from the note these Christians left and tell me, is it all that much different from the following?
“[W]e will spread origin to all the unbelievers. The power of the Ori will be felt far and wide, and the wicked shall be vanquished.”
The above is from the latter seasons of Stargate SG-1, a science fiction show that ran from 1997 to 2007.
I ask you, is the language of these repugnant Christians all that much different from science fiction dialogue?
Speaking of fiction, former pretend Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is also in the news. It turns out the Devil is responsible for those women who alleged sexual misconduct.
Cain blamed the media for not “doing their due diligence.” He insisted all three women who accused him are “liars.” —
[H]e [Cain] speculated as to who may have orchestrated the allegations: the Devil.“It made me realize that there was a force bigger than right,” Cain said.
That’s as plausible an explanation as any I guess.
