Why Health Care Costs In The United States Are So High (VIDEO)
This is a must watch video explaining why America’s health care costs are so high. It’s astounding how much we pay per person for health care when you consider outcomes are worse than other modern democracies, while at the same time not extending coverage to every American.
Yes! Exactly! It’s the bargaining power stupid! This is why I say we need Medicare-for-All because the greater the negotiating leverage, the lower the costs. It’s that simple.
I walk away from this video thinking a few things (in no particular order):
1. Health care is NOT a market.
2. Americans are stupid. Okay, maybe just ignorant.
3. Republicans are full of shit.
Health care is not a consumer product, it is not a market. When you are sitting in the back of an ambulance, you have ZERO bargaining power. For those of you who are slow on the uptake, or simply need reinforcement: I’m talkin’ zilch, zip, nil, naught, bupkes, and oh yeah, who could forget? Diddly squat.
This is why I have lost patience with anyone who says we need a market based solution. Why? BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT WE ALREADY HAVE! Except the problem with our current market-based solution is that it’s lopsided, with all the information and power on the side of the providers, and a few scraps left for the patient/consumer.
