Rep. Steve King, Poster Child Of White Conservative Resentment Of The ‘Other’

Part-time congressman, full-time racist, Ohio representative Steve King, is at it again. King is the poster child of white conservative resentment. He is typical of a type of conservative who knows nothing, but is going to teach everybody else life lessons on everything.

Steve King said of undocumented immigrants, “For every one who’s a valedictorian, there’s another hundred out there who they weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they’ve been hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert.” And King should know something about human anatomy, since he has mastered talking out of his ass for his entire political career.

King represents conservative resentment of the “other,” the “different,” or the “un-American,” as defined by conservatives. And these conservatives produce no evidence to support their wild claims. They innately know how things work, and how people think, and they are here to teach us all a lesson. They believe the worst in fellow human beings, and there could be no more severe a crime then crossing an artificial border.

I’m not calling for anarchy or subverting the rule of law, but let’s put illegal border crossing in perspective. Right now, when you take into account the amount of undocumented immigrants being deported, there is net-zero illegal immigration. We have much bigger problems to worry about than people crossing the border illegally looking for a better life. And I don’t know where Congressman King got his numbers from, but I have a suspicion they exist solely in his hateful mind, not reality.

And until King calls for tougher laws to make sure people don’t stay in this country illegally when their skin color happens to be white — yes, this does happen — then I’ll consider his concern for illegal immigration, as a congressman from Iowa of all places, to be more about discrimination then it is rule of law.
