Senator Inhofe: MoveOn.org, George Soros, Michael Moore Responsible For Global Warming ‘Hoax’
On Wednesday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) said we must “act boldly” on climate change because an “overwhelming majority of scientists” agree global warming is real. This is not news of course. For those of us who value logic, reason, and well, reality, we give deference to the scientists who study climate change and its potential effects on the planet and the human species.
But there are others, who fall into the crowd of flat-earthers and civil war re-enactors (to steal a line from Bill Maher), who see global warming as a massive hoax.
“What Senator Inhofe has written and talked about is his belief that global warming is one of the major hoaxes ever perpetrated on the American people, that it’s a hoax pushed by people like Al Gore, the United Nations and the Hollywood elite,” Sanders told an environmental committee. “I think that is a fair quote from Senator Inhofe. Is that roughly right, Senator Inhofe?” Sanders asked.
“Yes. I’d add to that list MoveOn.org, George Soros, Michael Moore and a few others,” responded Senator James Inhofe (R-OK).
To Inhofe, global warming reads like the plot of blockbuster Hollywood movie, but happening in real life. There are hundreds of millions of people, maybe even billions, all around the world who believe climate scientists just might have a clue on this topic. But to Inhofe, we are pawns to a few big-shot Hollywood liberal types who are pulling the strings.
“Do we agree with Senator Inhofe that global warming is a hoax and that we do not want the federal government, the EPA, the Department of Energy to address that issue?” asked Sanders. “Or do we believe and agree with the overwhelming majority of scientists who tell us that global warming is the most serious planetary crisis that we face, and that we must act boldly and aggressively to protect the future of this planet?”
I know where I’m putting my money.
