Georgia GOP Chair: Same-Sex Marriage Will Lead To Fraud
Sue Everhart, chairwoman of the Georgia Republican Party, says that same-sex marriage will lead to massive fraud. “You may be as straight as an arrow, and you may have a friend that is as straight as an arrow,” said the misguided GOP chair. “Say you had a great job with the government where you had this wonderful health plan. I mean, what would prohibit you from saying that you’re gay, and y’all get married and still live as separate, but you get all the benefits? I just see so much abuse in this it’s unreal.”
You know, not that we needed any reminders of which side of this issue is the correct side, but when opponents of same-sex marriage start making claims like this, it’s case closed. Uh, what would stop a man and a woman from doing the exact same thing? Is there some cosmic force that prohibits a male and a female from committing such a fraud? And how widespread do we think this kind of fraud is? I’m guessing it’s about as popular as voter fraud, which as you know, the right-wing says is spreading unchecked across this great land.
And if you think Everhart is an otherwise accepting person who simply doesn’t like same-sex marriage, she reveals her not so veiled feelings about this whole gay thing with a fresh, new perspective . “Lord, I’m going to get in trouble over this, but it is not natural for two women or two men to be married. If it was natural, they would have the equipment to have a sexual relationship.” Nope, nobody has ever made such a convincing argument. Never.
