Poll: 58 Percent Of Americans Support Same-Sex Marriage
In a continuation of rapid social change, a new ABC News/Washington Post poll finds 58 percent of Americans now support same-sex marriage. That is up sharply from only 9 years ago (2004) when only 32 percent thought gays and lesbians should be able to legally marry.
The results of this poll also continues another trend — public rebuke of the Republican Party platform that started with last year’s election results.
At some point conservatives are going to recognize that on this issue, their approval is not required, and their opinion does not matter. Because conservatives do not get to define what love is for other people. If you really are a small government conservative and you believe in freedom and liberty, then there is only one acceptable position on the issue of same-sex marriage: Stay out of people’s private lives and mind your own business.
