Republicans Outnumber Democrats On Sunday News Shows

Now I know why I so strongly dislike the Sunday morning news shows. The New York Times ‘The Upshot’ reviewed data collected by American University, combined with ideological scores calculated by Crowdpac, and concluded that since January 2009, liberal bias simply does not exist when it comes to the Sunday morning news shows. Okay, they didn’t exactly put it that way, that’s my wording, but what the The Upshot did find is that congressional members from the conservative side of the aisle made up 57 percent of appearances compared to 42 percent for liberal Senators and representatives. This slightly lopsided distribution…

Fear And Balanced: How Fox News Uses White Anxiety To Its Advantage

sean-hannity-fox-news.jpg

We are becoming a rainbow nation. In 1960, our population was 85% white, by 2060, it will be 43% white. Frankly, that is freaking out a lot of older people. – Paul Taylor, author of “The Next America” We are witness to what happens when the old guard of the American population slowly recedes from the dominant position it once held. now with 99% more liberal bias – tagline of The Left Call “reality has a well-known liberal bias” – Stephen Colbert The above quote is from Stephen Colbert’s performance at the 2006 White House Correspondents Dinner. The full context is, “Now, I know there are some polls out there saying this man has a 32% approval rating. But guys like us, we don’t pay attention to the polls. We know that polls are just a collection of statistics that reflect what people are thinking in ‘reality’. And reality has a well-known liberal bias.”

The Effects Of False Equivalence and Media Bias Charges

This story is a follow-up to The Left Call story from earlier today – The Left-Right False Equivalence Media Failure. Today PolitiFact – a site I usually trust for unbiased, untainted facts – gave me a reason to suspect they are part of the failure of the media that I called out in my story from earlier today. I believe PolitiFact naming ‘Republicans voted to end Medicare’ as Lie of the Year 2011 illustrates false equivalence and the media’s overreaction to charges of liberal bias.
